At our office at the World Trade Center Amsterdam we have an opening for additional staff at or Operations department/Administration department:
Marine accountant / Post Fixture / Controller Position
Within our company, we have departments:
  • Business development, S&P;
  • Chartering;
  • Operations;
  • Administration.
Because of the size/ number of people it is very important that open communication takes place between the departments and their staff.
Main Duties and Responsibilities 
As a Marine accountant / Post Fixture / Controller YOU will be the bridge between the accounts department and the operations department and will be assisting operators with making and sending invoices and follow up outstanding receivables and payments with clients and will be responsible for following accounting and audit rules 
  • To create, update and maintain voyage information and expenses in IMOS/Veson system, 
  • Issue hire, freight, demurrage invoices in accordance with terms and conditions of and Charter Parties and contracts
  • Issue and send invoices/payments for time charter hire for vessels chartered In/out, in accordance with terms and conditions of Charter Parties 
  • Monitor collection and perform AR control for invoices issued 
  • Report AR status to Operations Team 
  • Separate vessel owners cost and invoicing of same to vessel managers or TC in owners 
  • Updating of IMOS/Veson voyages for issues raised and agreed in discrepancy meetings 
  • Perform voyage reconciliations, including resolving open issues to ensure closing of voyages within the target time as per company policy. 
  • Maintain a ledger of insurance claims and support Operations with follow up of invoices and payments associated
  • Assist Account, Chartering and Operations departments with various reporting, documentation, document control, filing of Charter Parties, contracts and addendums, and other tasks as required from time to time.
  • Experience with IMOS or similar VMS advantageous.
  • Very sound knowledge and background in Accounting. 
  • Experience working in a shipping company for at least 2 years in similar position 
  • Good knowledge and understanding of charter parties and shipping terminology
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to details. 
  • Able to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to meet established deadlines.
  • Fluent in English verbally and written and have very good communication skills
  • A degree in accounting/Finance and/or shipping logistics
